DTF or Direct to Film is a print technology that uses a specific kind of eco-friendly water-based ink to print onto a film transfer.

The Basics
DTF or Direct to Film is a print technology that uses a specific kind of eco-friendly water-based ink to print onto a film transfer that is then dried, a powdered glue is applied to the back, and then heat cured. Once it has finished curing it is ready for storage or instant use. 

One of the benefits to DTF Is there is no need to use pre-treatment, the powdered glue does this job for you. Once heat pressed the soft water based ink is transferred to the garment in approximately 10 - 15 seconds. 

Designs are printed fully opaque with a pure white under base that can be used on any colored fabric & it will even transfer the color white since it prints white ink (how cool!) along with the normal CMYK inks, unlike sublimation which does not print white ink and therefore does not transfer white to your product.

DTF transfers can be pressed onto a variety of materials including...

Once pressed onto the material they have a soft feel, can stretch (wait 24 hours after pressing before stretching), and typically last longer than traditional screen-print transfers and HTV transfers.

While DIY is seriously fun, exciting, and addicting we ask that you please familiarize yourself with your heat press settings and its process, along with what direct to film is. We can not be responsible for user errors nor pressing errors.
